Clocks and Clockmaking
I have had an interest in clocks for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I used to pull old (and some not so old) clocks to pieces, to see if I could make them work.
This is how I learnt what makes them tick (pun intentional).
In 1980 I was able to join an evening class to actually make a clock.
I had an engineering background, and found that it was fairly easy to make a clock, but much harder to make it go!
This first clock was John Wilding's 8 Day Weight Driven Clock, which is running as a grandfather clock.
I have bought and repaired a number of antique clocks, many of which I have passed on, but some I have kept.
I have just completed this congreve clock.
and am in the process of completing a wooden clock
